E-Commerce is one of the few business fields showing extraordinary development; hence more and more investors now turn to e-commerce. How many of them though really know what it takes to succeed?

Kyriakos Komvoteas, ATCOM's Chief Operating Officer, surely is one of them; and you can see his insights on some critical questions, answered to Marketing Week.

MW: What is nowadays the greatest myth/misconception about e-business in Greece?

Kyriakos Komvoteas: The fact that e-commerce has extremely low cost of function and that the merchant who really knows his job can also become technical director of the e-store. Yes, both of these facts can happen and, in such occasion, the costs will indeed be low. Nevertheless, the result will most likely be unsuccessful. E-commerce demands technology, evolution and innovation. It will be, then, those who are supported by a technology partner, that will definitely have more possibilities of success.

MW: What is the most noteworthy trend globally, as far as the design and implementation of electronic stores are concerned?

Kyriakos Komvoteas: The design of e-stores hasn't changed significantly over the recent years. The trend seems to focus on wide images and smoother navigation elements, while responsive design will soon become imperative. The most notable differentiation occurs in product pages, which now have much more content, user critics, social tools that can even offer sales and promotions, tool for comparison of products - and all kinds of more features.
