VOLUNTARY BLOOD AND BONE MARROW DONATION BY ATCOM

Giving is caring: A responsible commitment to help save lives.

February 20, 2019, was a special day for ATCOM, as it marked the beginning of two major social initiatives for the company: blood and bone marrow donation.

The day started with blood donation, organised in collaboration with the National Blood Donation Centre and the Blood Donation Department of Agii Anargiroi General Oncological Hospital. With more than 20 employees participating in a single session, we were successful in donating more than 10 litres of blood. The blood will become immediately available to patients in need, while an equivalent amount will be at ATCOM members and their families’ disposal, at a time of need.

The blood donation session was followed a few hours later by an information session by the “Orama Elpidas” Association, a non-government organisation founded in 2012, working towards raising awareness on voluntary bone marrow donation and expanding Greece’s Bone Marrow Donors Registry. 40 ATCOM employees volunteered to join the registry, providing samples of their DNA through cheek swabs. A simple, yet life-changing commitment to help save lives.

We would like to thank the volunteers of the “Orama Elpidas” Association and Agii Anargiroi General Oncological Hospital for giving us the chance to contribute to their cause, and pledge to continue contributing to their efforts every year, through any means possible.
