ATCOM supported Black Friday in Greece, as the country’s exclusive representative of Akamai - a global leader in cyber security and web performance services, recognised for the 3rd consecutive year as Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader and Forrester WaveTM Leader. Akamai Services ensured the uninterrupted and secure operation of e-commerce sites owned by the largest retailers in Greece, safeguarding this year’s particularly busy Black Friday due to lockdown, and supporting effectively the retail industry.
The sales of Greece’s largest e-retailers exceeded expectations, presenting an increase up to 300% when compared to last year’s Black Friday period. Through ATCOM’s Akamai Services, 100% uptime and over 86,5% infrastructure offload were achieved. At the same time, Akamai Security Services detected and prevented more than 14 million DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attacks, originating from countries such as the USA, Russia, China, Germany, Canada and Turkey.
Maximum performance of the e-commerce sites was ensured at all times regardless of traffic, which, at peak time, reached up to 3.5 million unique concurrent users. The stats were gathered from Plaisio, Kotsovolos, Media Markt, Public, You, Sklavenitis, attica department stores, Hondos Center, notos, KALOGIROU and Z-Mall, among other retail leaders within ATCOM’s clientele. The evidence confirmed once more that the acceleration of the e-shops’ performance was directly proportional to conversion rate increase and business impact maximisation.
