The Greek National Opera partnered with ATCOM to design and implement its new online TV channel, GNO TV - a project supported by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) for the enhancement of the Greek National Opera’s artistic outreach. Leading the way to the future, the creation of this site marks the beginning of a new, digitally-enabled era for our National Opera, expands its audience globally and brings it alongside the world’s most prestigious opera houses & art arenas in the world.

Our goal was to accommodate, in the most effective manner, the GNO’s vision to maximise its artistic outreach and attract global audiences. We centred our strategic approach on creating a modern digital space worthy of our National Opera’s name and heritage; to help bring its highest quality, exclusive content into the digital realm, rendering it available for the whole world to experience and appreciate.

Through an extensive UX analysis, we laid out a well-planned interface that promotes clear user journeys and enhances user experience, while our Experience Design team adopted a creative process to best showcase the site’s content and, at the same time, respect the GNO’s brand identity and philosophy.

On the Technology front, the site is built on the innovative 6th version of our award-winning CMS platform Netvolution – written in .NET Core, it offers significantly faster response times and safeguards the site’s speed, performance and stability at all times – and hosted on Microsoft Azure. To ensure optimal media availability and uninterrupted performance across devices and locations, the content is streamed through Akamai’s media global content delivery network, making use of advanced CDN services provided by ATCOM’s Akamai department.
